NYU Langone Health's blood donation program connects patients, directed donors, and autologous donors with the New York Blood Center for blood collection intended for use at NYU Langone facilities. Prospective donors need a physician-signed medical order and must register with both the New York Blood Center and the NYU Langone Blood Bank before scheduling an appointment; walk-in donations are not accepted. The NYU Langone Blood Bank telephone line assists with donor eligibility questions and appointment scheduling. Separately, NYU Langone operates in-hospital blood bank and transfusion services staffed by board-certified pathologists, providing 24/7 laboratory support for transfusions, immunohematology testing, and apheresis procedures across its Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island hospital sites, including Tisch Hospital and NYU Langone Orthopedic Hospital.
