Ahavas Chesed

Ahavas Chesed is a Brooklyn-based nonprofit organization headquartered in Crown Heights that provides communal and medical assistance to individuals facing health crises, with a particular focus on the Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish community. Its programs include a 24-hour emergency medical referral hotline, loans of medical equipment such as wheelchairs and hospital beds, hospital shuttle and medical transportation services, home healthcare referrals, kosher hot meal delivery, Shabbos taxi arrangements, and emergency financial assistance. A core program is its monthly community blood drive, run in partnership with Maimonides Hospital, which supplies blood units to patients undergoing surgery or chemotherapy and coordinates between hospitals, blood banks, and volunteer donors. The organization has also hosted convalescent plasma drives with the New York Blood Center. Ahavas Chesed is registered as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and has served the Brooklyn community since the late 1990s.
